Ohioans are obsessed with the weather — it's easily our second favorite topic after parking…
This year, Ohio smashed its tornado record with a whopping 63 twisters in just seven months. That's more spins than a confused tourist trying to find Cincinnati on a map!
The latest tornado, a gentle EF0, touched down in Willard on June 29th, flexing winds just under 85 mph and thankfully causing zero drama — no injuries or damages, just a brief whirl and a sigh of relief.
Living just outside Tornado Alley, Ohio gets the best of both worlds: warm Gulf winds meet icy Canadian air, creating a tornado playground.
since 1950 we've seen 1,459 of these twisters wreak havoc, racking up a jaw-dropping $2,952,476,540 in property damage.
However, 1985 takes the cake with 27 tornadoes causing a wallet-thinning $842,625,000 across the state. Ah, Ohio — where even our weather records pack a punch!

Trivia Answer
B. Abraham Lincoln.
Abraham Lincoln wasn’t from Ohio, but he was here in Columbus when he officially found out that he would become the next president of the United States. He was visiting the Ohio Statehouse while the electoral college was meeting to certify the results of the election. Apparently, he did a little jig to celebrate the news.
Abraham Lincoln's visit to Columbus, Ohio, in 1861 was indeed significant. Here are some details about that event:
Visit to Ohio Statehouse: Abraham Lincoln visited the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus on February 13, 1861. At the time, he was the President-elect of the United States, having won the presidential election in November 1860.
Electoral College Certification: During his visit, Lincoln was informed that the Electoral College had officially certified the election results, confirming him as the next President of the United States.
Reaction: Upon receiving this news, Lincoln reportedly expressed joy and relief. According to accounts, he even did a little dance or "jig" to celebrate the confirmation of his election victory.
Historical Significance: Lincoln's visit to Columbus and his reaction to the news at the Ohio Statehouse reflect the pivotal moment in American history as the country was on the brink of the Civil War.
